Category: Let's talk
All, you've probably already heard some of the comments made by Senator Obama's spiritual advisor. He made several inflamatory remarks regarding the state of America, and some outlandish one's about the dealings between whites and blacks. Has anyone lost faith in Senator Obama? If you still support him why didn't this event alarm you? James.
I'll support Obama if Hillary doesn't get the nomination, since I'm a Democrat. I felt this way even before this, but I could not believe what I was hearing when i heard those remarks. I think it will be very hard for Obama to get through. The road wasn't smooth as it once was, since people have heard these remarks and the audience screaming at them. He has tried to distance himself from the spiretual advisor and says that he did not hear those remarks live. Although he didn't hear those particular ones, he went to that church for twenty years! Surely, there was some hint of what the pastor was feeling, since I think that the church u go to reflects who u r as a person, but I won't get in to that. So, to go back to the original question, he might be done, but it's too soon to say for sure, since no primaries have occured yet since this story broke, but he is falling in poll numbers.
Yes, the remarks made by Obama's minister are definitely alarming. It concerns me, but even if Obama does win the Presidency, he wouldn't be able to exercise those types of extremist beliefs. that's what the whole checks and balances system of the government is for. And I also don't think this will stop him from getting the nomination. It's damaged him, yes, but he's charismatic enough to make a recovery. and even after all this, I'd still rather see him get the Democratic nomination than Clinton. Yuck!
agree with the last post.
So if Hillary had a friend who did drugs she'd legalize drugs in her presidency, if one of her teachers was a lesbian she surely must be. I think this issue is exaggerated quite a bit, and I think his speech that he made in response to those comments is one of the better speeches I've seen by an American politician, it's honest and seems to have some genuine feeling and meaning behind it, not empty slogans and feel good phrases. My respect for Obama has increased rather than the opposite after seeing this. I just saw Dick Chaney claim Israel has every right to defend itself by killing hundreds of Palestinians and cutting of their water and electricity because some stupid Palestinians shoot home made rockets into Israel that happen to hurt one person per every 200 rockets or more, and this man is actually in power, his idea of peace and justice amazes me.
Well, the Israel/Palistine issue is a whole different topic. But I support Israel all the way. Pallestine has been after Israel for as long as they've been a nation, and I'm glad Israel is fighting back with all they've got.
I do think this whole thing is overly-hyped. It makes me wonder who was the first to leak this info and what their motives are. There is not one presidential candidate, or any politician, that does not have skeletons in the closet. Much as we wish public officials to be better than the average Joe, they are flawed humans like the rest of us and will not always make all the choices we wish them to make. Plus, I think that everyone, including white people, and yes, I'm white, need to stop denying that racism has totally gone away. As long as you sweep things under the rug like talk of racism, homophobia, ableism, and general icky feelings about difference overall, then they'll probably never get taken care of. Somebody's gotta rock the boat just to get the boat moving.
Lord I hope he's done. If he's not done then if he wins, we America, are over.
It goes again to prove my point that they have to dig deep for scandles on minorities. I hope he gets it. I've acftually seen potential for change there, and he has an idea of where he's going, but that's my oppinon.
I think it's BS all this talk about, "He's a Muslim, he's gonna let blacks and muslims take over the country."
I don't know him, and for all I know he could be "a terrorist" but he does speak well, and honestly and I think like people have said, we're just looking for excuses to keep blacks out of office, which is sad.
I would have to agree this man is Obomma's spiritual advisor, not his freaking cabinet advisor. Lets stick to the issues shall we?
P.s, I am sure Hillary has some lesbians as friends, but so does Dic Chaney.

I second what WB and Godzilla said. I am still a very firm Obama supporter. This isn't the first ridiculously overhyped story concerning him and probably won't be the last, and I have yet to hear anything about him that significantly lowers my opinion of him, particularly given the rest of the candidates. And I certainly hope the church you attend doesn't reflect who you are as a person, because if it does, I'm in trouble.
Just because GWB lets his religious beliefs run who he is and screw up our country, doesn't mean every politician does that.
Have you guys seen the latest Hillary slip up. She told a big story about how she had to run from a plane in Bosnia whilst under sniper fire and her welcome ceremony had to be cancelled, turns out they actually had tv footage of the incident and she walked from the plane in the bright sunlight to a little girl who read her a poem, no snipers anywhere. She claimed to have "mis spoken" .. is that a modern term for lying, her actual quote was: "I did mis-speak the other day. You know this has been a very long campaign [laughs] so occasionally I am a human being like everybody else."
That is a rather embarressing slip up, sure, I'm sure pretty much everyone lies from time to time, may be small lies, but I think this is rather sad, a made up story about heroism and courage that she clearly wants to tell us to demonstrate her bravery, but is easily and verifiably untrue. I have to say this incident has further lowered my opinion on ms Clinton .. I started out supporting her but I am more oand more of an Obama supporter, a man who is not afraid to tackle the sensitive issues and has not been guilty of making up superman stories about himself, not yet at least, for a BBC news story on this see:
